There are three great hotels on Lanai, with a fourth in the works. Each of the three current properties have very different vibes, so it’s all a matter of preference when selecting the best choice. Here’s an overview…

There’s a reasons the lodge was recently ranked the second best resort in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. It’s because the property is phenomenal. Amazing. You can’t go wrong with staying here. But there’s a catch: no beach. What? No beach at an Hawaiian Resort?! Yes, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

One, the resort was ranked as one of the best resorts in the country for a reason. The place is amazing. The rooms are great, the food is some of the best I’ve ever tasted, and the staff is second to none, always polite, helpful, and willing to go out of their way to make a guest feel special.

Two, even though the beach isn’t nearby, there is a ton to do in the area – UTV ride and shoot programs, golfing, cultural demonstrations and lessons, hiking, and more. So even though you may think you’ll miss out on the beach, odds are you’ll be out having too much fun to even realize you’re missing it. Yes, between all of the great outdoor activities, and the shopping in nearby Lanai City, there’s enough to keep any guest as busy as they like while also providing making sure a vacation should be just what is necessary – relaxing.

The much desired beach resort doesn’t get any better than this, in my opinion. U.S. News and World Report may have ranked it as the sixth best place to stay on the Hawaiian Islands, but it’s at the top of the list with the Lodge at Koele in my book. And that’s part of what makes it so great – the seamless transfers.

Want to experience Hawaii a different way? Then stay upcountry at the Lodge. Still want a beach getaway? Then split your time with Manele Bay. By experiencing the best of both worlds, guests can truly appreciate how amazing the two properties are, as well as the island of Lanai. And the best part? It’s all seamless. Yep. Leave the bags in the room, the bell desk will take care of it; there’s no additional checking out or in again, just show up and relax as you should when you’re on the islands.

Taking it easy is the order of the day at Manele Bay. Spa treatment? Yes, please! Whale watching? Heck yeah! Or what about enjoying some quality pool time? Don’t mind if I do! And don’t forget all of the fantastic dining options, cultural activities, and other opportunities both here and around the island, much of it connected by the shuttle van between the two Four Seasons Resorts and the third hotel on the island…

THE HOTEL LANAI

Not everyone can afford to stay at the Four Seasons. They are expensive luxury resorts. So how is it possible to still experience Lanai while not breaking the bank? By staying at the Hotel Lanai! It is approximately half the cost of its competitors, historic in that it used to be the office building for the Dole Plantation on the island, and lovely and comfortable in a way that bed and breakfasts are anywhere. And that’s why it’s rated as one of the best boutique hotels in all of Hawaii!

The hotel is in the heart of Lanai City, which offers convenience to all kinds of area activities. My favorite is the “Dole Stroll,” a walk around the city’s park; it is lined with restaurants, shops, and covered in giant pine trees which offer perfect cover for picnicking, lounging, or simply napping.

Looking for more? There’s no need to feel left out. Just hop on the shuttle and head to either of the other two resorts. While their amenities – like the pool or gym – aren’t open to non-guests, the restaurants are, as well as the beach, the hiking trails, golf courses, and more.

Each of the three hotels on Lanai are very unique and special, offering guests drastically different perspectives of the awesomeness of Lanai. And things could not be more exciting with a fourth on the way; it will open up a completely different side of the island that isn’t normally possible to explore due to off-road restrictions by the local car rental company. So, as special as Lanai is now, it looks like it’s only going to get better!
